On 15 February 2010, Charlton Kings Scouts will celebrate 100 years of scouting in the village. The group is planning to start their celebrations on thier Centenary with a reunion event in February and would like past members to get in contact.

Group Scout Leader Julien LePlain said ‘we would really like our Centenary celebrations to be something special. There are not many Groups who can claim to have operated continuously for 100 years without a break, even through both wars. We are trying to contact as many past members of the group as possible to join our celebrations along with current members of the Group’.

‘We hope to put on a big display showing a century of scouting in Charlton Kings with photos and accounts of each decade. It will also be a fantastic opportunity to promote what we do today: the group has gone from strength to strength and we now have two Beaver Colonies, three Cub Packs, two Scout Troops and we host the ‘No Name!’ Explorer section as well. With around 200 members, including 25 leaders, we are very proud to be the largest youth group in Cheltenham.

If you were a member of the group or know of anyone who was and would like to come to the event, or perhaps have any old photos or memories or records of the group we could use in our display, please contact Julien on 01242 234006 or email him on .
