Charlton Kings Scouts are over the moon after receiving a grant of £ 5,000 from the National Lottery’s ‘Award for All’ fund.
The grant allows us to improve the access to the main entrance to our headquarters in Charlton Kings and to carry out internal improvements including renewal of the floor covering to side hall.
It is hoped that this grant will benefit not only our members, but all those who use the building. Our marquee hire service provides income for day to day maintenance but not for major improvements.
We’ve worked hard to develop this project and to prepare the application but now we’ve got the money, it’s time for the real work to start!
We have further plans to improve our building to bring it up to date and we hope this work will be a significant first step in a series of improvements aimed at making best use of our facilities for our growing numbers.
Our aim is to continue our tradition of providing exciting and challenging activities for both girls and boys from age 6 to 18 though our Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer Sections
Work on the ramped approach, new entrance door and the new floor covering have now all been completed, with a balustrade and handrial to be installed shortly. |
